The Battle for Earth

For our second look at a live action website we turn our attention to The Battle for Earth. It is relatively new, but off to impressive start. If there is anybody on equal footing with Next Global Crisis it is this website.

Storyline - Only two episodes have been released, both involving the same main characters so I am not sure at this point how deep they intend to go in having a storyline with continuity. For me this is the most important factor as to my repeated use of a website. The good news is that they do appear to really care about story and intend to revolve the narrative around five heroines and five villains fighting for control of the world.

Production Quality - So far so good. They are very much in the same league as Next Global Crisis.. The first two episodes have been well written, acted, and shot.

Fight Choreography - After two episodes they are far and away the undisputed king of this area. Nobody else is even close. In actuality the credit for this falls on the lead actress who plays the character Avalon. She is a ridiculously talented martial artist. She is so talented that I believe they may have a problem with the other heroines they cast measuring up to the standard she has set.

Acting Ability - Good acting all around from both the leads and supporting players.

The Girls - Being two episodes in there has only really been a focus on the lead that plays Avalon. She is a very beautiful young girl and as mentioned before more physically skilled than anyone I have ever seen in this type of movie.

Price - Some nice options here. Each movie has been over the thirty minute mark and they offer three different options. You can do a download for you mobile device which costs $19.95. Standard definition will cost $24.95 and high definition is $29.95.

Negatives - There is very litle communication and a complete lack of updates from the site itself. I have been lucky enough to exchange e-mails with the director a few times. He is a very friendly guy who seems to take customer feedback seriously. I only wish the site itself would enable something as simple as a twitter blog to keep fans in the production loop.

Final Verdict - You will not regret going to this website and spending your money. As far as live action is concerned I hope The Battle for Earth and Next Global Crisis spend the next few years trying to one up each other. They are the leaders in the industry and the only contenders for the number one spot.

Next Global Crisis

For our first post we are going to start with one of the best websites for live action superheroine films and that is Next Global Crisis. As of this posting, four episodes have been released and they were all spectacular. To get in depth for each site that we review, we will focus on the following areas. Story, production quality, fight choreography, acting ability, the girls, and price. Let's get started.

Storyline - In this area Next Global Crisis stands alone. They have gone out of their way to create a story with real continuity. Although nothing has crossed over yet, one can tell that it is their intention for events from earlier episodes to influence future ones. They also pack the website with in depth character profiles and storyline points that help people better understand the world they have created. They release character photos and provide twitter updates about what they are currently working on production wise.

Production Quality - Another area where Next Global Crisis excels. Top notch costume design, inventive sets, and quality scripts.

Fight Choreography - They do well in this area. Some of the actresses are more skilled than others but even at it's worst the choreography here is better than most.

Acting Ability - Once again, top notch stuff. From what I gather they hire professional acting talent and it shows through in the final product

The Girls - Basically every girl they have ever cast looks like a supermodel. Enough said.

Price - One of the things that Next Global Crisis does is reward loyalty. If you have purchased the previous episode you get put on a list and are able to buy the next episode early and at a discount. They offer episodes in standard definition for $16.95 and high definition for $21.95. The high definition video comes with photos.

Negatives - The only thing I can think of is that there is a long lag peiod between episodes. The creator has been nice enough to email me and said they are working on making post production a little quicker but won't sacrifice quality for speed which is commendable.

Final verdict - Yes. Go to this website. Buy every episode. No need to thank me.
